Top 5 Reasons to Move to Kentucky

Are you looking for a new place to put your roots down? Look no further than Kentucky! This state has so much to offer, from its beautiful landscapes, to its vibrant cities. As a Realtor based in Central Kentucky, I'm excited to share with you my top 5 reasons why you or someone you know should consider moving to the Bluegrass State. Qualifier- The reason why I am qualified to tell you is because I moved to Kentucky in 2009 to finish my college career, fell in love with this state and never left!

1.        Cost of Living $

Compared to many other states, Kentucky has a relatively low cost of living. Housing is affordable, and other expenses like groceries, state taxes and transportation are also reasonably priced. This means that you can enjoy a high quality of life without breaking the bank.

2.       It’s Beautiful!

Kentucky is home to some of the most stunning natural scenery in the country. From the rolling hills of horse country to Cumberland Falls, Mammoth Cave and Red River Gorge with the Natural Bridge there's no shortage of breathtaking landscapes to explore. If you will love hiking, fishing, and camping there are many state parks and recreational areas throughout the state.  LAKES! My family and I are enjoying the summer on the lake with many options just a short drive away from home.

3.       Horse Culture & Bourbon Trail

Kentucky is steeped in the horse culture from Keenland fall and spring meets to the Kentucky Derby. The vast amount of race horse royalty, triple crown winners and many farms that operate in the Bluegrass is spectacular to even the non-horse person.  The Bourbon Trail with well know distillery’s like Woodford Reserve, Angels Envy, Castle & Key, Buffalo Trace there's always something to see and experience right in your city. Local Distillery’s are a great place to listen to a band and enjoy the summer nights.

4.       Friendly People. Yes, seriously

Coming from my own Northern experience growing up. Kentucky is just way friendlier. Folks in the Bluegrass State are more welcoming and hospitable, making it easy for newcomers to feel at home quicker. Speaking Central Kentucky specifically, Lexington area offers a mix of urban amenities and surrounded by small-town charm. Whether you’re looking for some great sports, education, nightlife scene and/or a family-friendly community, you’ll find them all in Kentucky.

5.       Location

You are in a strong health care area with many hospitals and health care options from strong pedatric programs and cancer specialists too. The education front also has many well known colleges with unique programs all over the bluegrass state that bring students from everywhere. You have probably heard of UK, UofL, EKU, Berea and Asbury University. Do you love to travel? You can drive to a 3 major airports in a matter of a couple minutes to hours.
